Treat dB figures as a best case. Listings rarely say at what distance or fan speed the figure was taken. Compare stated figures with each other, and expect more noise on the high setting.
Mind the floor and the wall. A unit on a hollow floor or touching a wall can hum louder than its rating. Give it the clearance in the manual and a solid, level spot.
Let it cycle. With the humidistat set around 50 %, the compressor switches off once the room is dry. A unit sized for the space spends more time quiet than an undersized one running flat out.

Every dB figure on this page comes from the seller, and no listing here says how far from the unit or at which fan speed it was taken. Assume the best case, probably the low fan setting.
